Chuckanut 50k

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for your kind words about my race at Chuckanut. The response has been overwhelming. As always, I learned something new about running, while having an enjoyable experience against a talented group of people. Congratulations to everyone who finished under tough conditions and congratulations to Krissy and her volunteer crew for putting on another wonderful event. It's a great way to kick off an exciting season.

I have a race report over at, which you can read here
I also have a post race interview, that I stumble my way through here
Belligham Herald story here
Full race results are available here

There are lots of great blog posts out there and race reports worth reading. It always fascinates me to see how other people interpret the day and express their race. We all have a story to tell from our time on the trail and although we were all in the same place, at more or less the same time, we all tell it slightly differently.

I definitely felt tired and sore from that effort, it's fair to say that I went to the well on the day. I'm really trying to respect my recovery this week. I have a tendency to try and rush back after races and end up having a crash 10 days to 2 weeks later. I'm hoping that with some more patience, that I can absorb some fitness from the race and get on with a good block of training in preparation for my first 100 mile run at the Ultra Trail Mt Fuji, sister race to the Ultra Trail de Mont Blanc, in mid May.

Here is a video that Sage Canaday made for Flotrail. It shows some of the tight racing over the last few miles:

Here are some pictures from last weekend taken by Glenn Tachiyama, Michael Lebowitz & Randy Park. Thanks to them for their cheers and for standing around in the wet and cold, capturing our efforts.
